My Granddad was a civil engineer who, when he retired, designed and built his dream home. It is a one-level courtyard California-Mexican-style house with a pool in the courtyard, where my grandfather would swim his daily laps. Lemon tree, garden, dog running through the marshes. It was built in the 1970s and was dark glazed Mexican terra cotta tile floors, dark wood and burnt orange doorways, and a very groovy sunken lounge (where said dog slept.)

I inherited my Granddad’s kimono - which became the inspiration for BLUE CHAIN. His kimono inspired me to look into Japanese symbolism and heraldic imagery. ALMERON is a riff on Black Domino’s chain with a hand-painted version of a Japanese chrysanthemum heraldic symbol.

The Cinnabar color reminds me of the paint color of my Granddad’s house’s heavy wooden doors.
