Fantastic vintage Turkish carpet with a leaping tiger against a spring green.

Anatolia used to have tigers (and other wildlife) now no longer with us. ‘Kaplan’ means' ‘Tiger’ in Turkish, and is a common last name.

This fun carpet was handknotted in Isparta, in Western Anatolia, in wool on cotton in the 1960s. Low pile and sturdy, this horizontally-oriented carpet would be excellent in an entry wall, in the kitchen, powder room, or bedroom.

In excellent condition. Low pile.
