Vintage Karapinar Kilim/ 4'6" x 6'7"/ 140x200cm
Karapinar, in Central Anatolia's Konya district, is a village famous for its high-quality wool and high-quality weaving. These gorgeous, natural beauty stripe kilims are iconic Karapinar: Kilims made from the weaver's own animals, and made for their own use - not for the commercial market. True village kilims, they reflect the dimensions of the loom, the colors of the animal's wool (the wool is undyed) and the prowess of the weaver within her community.
This is one of my favorites. Wild stripes undulate in coppery and blackest browns against rich natural white. Such an artistic and free expression of stripes.
