Sweet + funky village carpet from Central Anatolia.

Detse village, in Konya province, is now called by its Turkish name, Yesildere, or Green Brook. This is a true village carpet, with a free, artistic hand unencumbered by commercial concerns. Warm apricot-tinged red, fresh green, and a medium blue are the main colors.

A niche or mihrapli carpet, the main design is the meaningful Tree of Life.

Central Anatolia is a crossroads, and long has been. Seljuk-era caravanserais and mosques dot the plateaus. Konya is Rumi’s final resting place, and his tomb a pilgrimage site to this day.

Plush pile and warm hand.
