Vintage Karapinar kilim / 4'2" x 6'6"/ 128x200cm
Karapinar, in Central Anatolia's Konya district, is a village famous for its high-quality wool and high-quality weaving. These gorgeous, natural beauty stripe kilims are iconic Karapinar: Kilims made from the weaver's own animals, and made for their own use - not for the commercial market. True village kilims, they reflect the dimensions of the loom, the colors of the animal's wool (the wool is undyed) and the prowess of the weaver within her community.
Lovely and artistic, this dark brown and rich white undyed wool stripe kilim has decorative motifs woven in at the end of many of the stripes, the weaver playing and flexing her artistic and weaving talents. These decorations and the lovely abrash in the wools make this piece so rich and special. So much of the weaver is here.
